Singer/Lyricist for Shadows of Dawn  •  Genre: Heavy Metal

Originally a bassist, Dan Lassen eventually found his passion through being a frontman and lyricist. His influences range from classic rock, to heavy metal, to pop.

Aside from his band Shadows of Dawn, Dan has also collaborated with other regional acts, and appeared as a solo performer.

One of the most unique projects Dan has started to date is a collection of Marvel Comics themed heavy metal songs.

Jimmy’s Role:

Jimmy helps heavy metal frontman and lyricist Dan Lassen with several musical avenues.

He coaches his singing technique, and lends his skills as a lyrical editor to his compositions.

When Dan is experiencing bouts of writer's block or idea stagnancy,

Jimmy prompts him to explore different approaches to finding his inspiration.

Sometimes Jimmy will have him do research on the topics he wishes to write about, or he has him do creativity exercises, like creating keyword lists which are then used to flesh out song frames.

Dan listens to all suggestions and then explores the options before making choices.

He keeps an open mind and is not afraid of taking creative chances.

Jimmy has known Dan several years now, and regarding Dan’s progress,

Jimmy believes “Dan has proven his artistic muscle through his mindful approach to song-crafting.

Time and time again, he impresses me with how quick and adaptable he is and has become as we have worked with each other.

He is a pleasure to work with, and I look forward to the years of collaboration that lie ahead.”
